What is hearing Aids?
A hearing aid is an electronic device that amplifies sounds reaching the ear according to the person’s hearing loss, making speech and everyday sounds easier to hear. There are behind-the-ear, in-the-ear and in-the-canal types. Before choosing a device, an ENT specialist examines the ear and looks for earwax or a treatable cause, and an audiogram measures the type and degree of hearing loss. People with severe hearing loss who do not benefit enough from hearing aids may be assessed for a cochlear implant.
