What is dental Bonding (Composite Veneers)?

In bonding, the dentist roughens the tooth surface slightly, applies an adhesive and builds up composite resin in layers, shaping and polishing it in the same visit. It can fix chipped or worn edges, close small gaps, and change the shape or shade of teeth. Because little or no tooth structure is removed, it is reversible in many cases — an important advantage over crowns for healthy teeth. Composite can stain and chip over time and needs polishing or repair, so it does not last as long as porcelain.

How is dental Bonding (Composite Veneers) done?

  1. Examination and shade selection
  2. Light roughening of the tooth surface
  3. Applying adhesive and building composite in layers
  4. Shaping, hardening with light and polishing
