What is labiaplasty and Vaginoplasty?
The appearance of women's external genitals varies greatly from person to person, and most of this variety is normal. Labiaplasty reduces the inner lips (labia minora) in women who have rubbing inside clothes, pain during sports such as cycling or riding, difficulty with hygiene or discomfort during sex because the lips are large or uneven. Vaginoplasty and perineoplasty usually repair a back vaginal wall that has loosened after childbirth, a widened vaginal opening or a weakened perineum. These operations are done by obstetrician-gynaecologists and plastic surgeons. Women's health organisations recommend that, when surgery is sought only for appearance, the person's concern is listened to, normal anatomy is explained, and no surgery is done under the age of 18 unless there is a medical reason. Pelvic floor problems such as urinary leakage or uterine prolapse should be assessed separately; genital surgery does not treat them.
How is labiaplasty and Vaginoplasty done?
