What is buttock Augmentation (BBL and Implants)?
In a Brazilian butt lift (BBL), fat is removed by liposuction from areas such as the waist, back and thighs and injected into the buttocks to add volume and shape. The fat must be placed only in the layer under the skin and above the muscle: injecting into or below the muscle can let fat enter large veins and cause a fatal fat embolism. For this reason, safety guidelines require the surgeon to use ultrasound or proven techniques to stay in the subcutaneous layer. Buttock implants are an option for people with little fat.
